Meet Cowboy the lovebug Quite possibly the sweetest and most loving dog in the world this guy wants nothing more than to be with his people and he has never met a stranger. Every type of person is his best friend. young old male female he just wants to be pet and cuddled. He LOVES the car. He and his ACD foster sister take turns monitoring the road from the center console and napping in the backseat.Cowboy is a medium energy dog. When I get home from work he is ready to play frisbee and work on training or go for a long walk on the beach. He loves to go for walks but he needs work on leash training. We are working on teaching him not to pull but there are so many interesting things to sniff out there He has great off leash potential as he is a major velcro dog and a people pleaser and has shown no interest in leaving his people on the few occasions when we have let him be off leash. He isn t a big fan of the crate but we gate him off from our other dogs while we are at work and he has never destroyed anything or had an accident. He also sleeps in our room at night and after some intial excited licking and snuggling he settles down nicely and sleeps through the night usually pressed up against my body. When he is especially tired he is a great little spoon A true water dog cowboy loves flopping around (literally its adorable ) in the kiddie pool at his foster house wading into the shallows at the beach and is a strong swimmer. We haven t been to a lake or on a boat with him yet but i think he would absolutely love it. He does really well with my grumpy senior cat either ignoring her or slightly scared of her depending on how feisty she is being. He seems to have a pretty low prey drive. When my resident dogs spot a squirrel In a tree and go nuts with barking and chasing he always seems a bit confused at what all the excitement is about. Cowboy also does really well with my two female dogs and absolutely loves my friend s male corgi.He is very athletic and loves anything that can be thrown- ball frisbee stick you name it he will chase it He is also super trainable We are working on impulse control and he learned quickly to fetch and bring whatever i throw for him back to me and sit patiently until i say & quot good boy & quot and throw it again. It took him about a day to learn that I won t throw the frisbee until he sits and now he promptly sits when I pick up a toy in our backyard. Cowboy is still learning confidence and stress management. He has made great strides in his fearfulness and reactivity since he first came to live with us but he can still be reactive and easily stressed out by lots of commotion and activity so a relatively quiet home would be best for him. I think he would thrive with a playful dog companion and an active owner but because we are still working on his fearful reactions to stress which can sometimes include nipping and growling a house without kids would be best. Cowboy s adopters should be committed to working with him to teach him that the world is not such a scary place. He does well with corrections as he just wants to make his person happy so again i think he has lots of potential but it will take time for him to be truly comfortable in new situations.
