Bring home Kygo- Australian Shepard Mix

Hello We adopted our Kygo a few months ago and it turns out that our home isn t the best environment that he needs to thrive. He s an extremely loyal dog and very intelligent. He was a stray before we adopted him but we housetrained him and taught him a few tricks and he makes for a great best friend. He does well in the crate for a few hours at a time but due to his breed s high energy level any longer than a few hours in the cage makes him anxious. He s great with other dogs and friendly with cats. Kygo is a little ball of energy at home but also loves a good cuddle at the end of the day. He s happiest getting a lot of exercise a few times a week like long hikes or runs.He is very protective of his owners and would do better in a home where strangers are rarely present. For example a farm with lots of space between neighbors or a house with a reliable fence would make for a good home for him. He is great with other dogs but strangers particularly men are scary to him and he gets nervous and has lashed out in the past. Some of his other triggers include large groups of people being cornered and people in hats or masks. Stats Neutered microchipped aged 6 y o by dental examination up to date on all shots. Around 28 pounds. Because he was a stray we don t know exactly what breed he is but he is definately a herding dog. He shows physical and behavioral traits from Australian Shepards Australian Cattle Dogs and Border Collies. As mentioned before he does have a bite history (only bites when triggered by men and feeling territorial over owners) so please be aware of that when making your decision.
