Russell - Male Terrier (Unknown Type Medium) Mix

Russell was originally adopted as a puppy from a local shelter about two years ago. He was with his family for two years and was very loved however he developed a habit of escaping his yard in the last year and was picked up by animal control several times. He was last picked up by animal control in July and had a very obvious and painful injury to one of his front legs. He was brought to a local animal hospital and x-rays showed a tibial fractur. His owner unfortunately could not afford surgery to repair or amputate the leg so they elected to put him to sleep. Luckily we were able to step in and offer another option for Russell and his family that did not involve a happy young pup dying. Russell was surrendered to the rescue and he underwent surgery to remove the leg because the recovery would be much quicker and easier on him than that of a surgery to attempt a repair.Russell was up and running around the day following surgery and has continued to recover and is quickly getting the hang of life on three legs. Russell is already neutered and microchipped and is ready to find his forever home. He did test positive for heartworm and has already begun the slow kill method of treatment. Russell gets along well with other dogs and absolutely adores children. He is a rather small guy at around 25 lbs which makes him the perfect size for cuddling (which he loves to do).Russell is ready and waiting for someone to fall in love with his sweet and goofy personality.
