Nutmeg - Female Labrador RetrieverTerrier (Unknown Type Medium)

Before emailing us with questions please ready the bio in full. Your questions will likely be answered and meet and greet instructions are provided below. An adoption application must be submitted prior to scheduling a meet and greet. Adopters must live in the Chicagoland area. Although we make the best guess on the breed and size of our dogs because they come from shelters or are strays we can never be completely certain of the genetic makeup of the dog. Breed and weight at maturity are only guesses. All we can tell you for sure is that they are 100% RESCUED If an animal is still posted for adoption he she is still available. If you see this this post this puppy is available for adoption so there is no need to email asking about availability. Meet Nutmeg she was born on 6-3-2016 and will be 8 weeks on Friday the 29th. She like her sister Rosie has the cutest stub tail that she was born with. Nutmeg is the smallest of the litter and weighed 4.6 pounds on July 27th. We don t think she grow to be bigger then 35 pounds but that s just a guess. Nutmeg like her siblings is super sweet very friendly great with other dogs and the older children in the home. We feel she would best in a home with children 5 . She loves playing and snuggling. We don t know about kitties as the foster doesn t have any but given the age we feel she would be fine with proper intros and with a dog friendly cat. Nutmeg is being fostered with her siblings Rosie Mace Cinnamon and Poly. We have mom and she is in the same home with the puppies. Mom is super sweet and friendly and really a mutt. If we must name a breed possible Terrier sheltie mix but that s just a guess. Dad we don t know who he was but are guessing he had some lab since the puppies look like they have lab in them. We we are guessing the breed as Lab Terrier mixes. Mom is 20-25 pounds. The pups have had a difficult start. Mom arrived with kennel cough and when the babies were born she passed it on them which quickly turned into pneumonia when they were tiny. They ve had xrays and were treated with meds several times. They are all better now and are chubby friendly happy little puppies thanks to the loving care of their foster mom and our wonderful vets. They had their vet check on the July 27th with their puppy vaccination. They ve already had several rounds of deworming. Were given Bravecto yesterday for the prevention of external parasites. Mace Nutmeg Cinnamon and Rosie all have very low grade 1 heart murmurs. It s very low and the vet feels they will grow out of it as they get older but we can t make any guarantees. For more information about heart murmurs we recommend you contact your vet. Puppies need a family who have time to continue with house training and socialization. If you work you must have other arrangements for someone to care for your puppy while your away. it s not fair to keep a young puppy in a crate all night then all day again while your working. At night when dogs sleep their body systems and elimination slow down. This is why they can go all night without eliminating once they re old enough to have sufficient bladder and bowel control. But during the day neither puppies nor adult dogs should be crated for more than four or five hours at a time. When crating a puppy for more than two hours it s best to provide water by attaching a water bottle dispenser to the crate. (Using a bowl can create a mess.) Follow these daytime duration guidelines to avoid compromising your dog s well-being or causing behavior problems Age Maximum time in crate 8-10 weeks 1-2 hours 11-14 weeks 1-3 hours 15-16 weeks 3-4 hours 17 weeks 4-5 hours Nutmeg is being fostered in a Plainfield IL home where is where you and your family would go to meet her.
