This is Baby and she is approximately 12-13 weeks old. She came in from the Brush area awaiting a spay through our partners at Northern Colorado Friends of Ferals. Many of the cats in her colony had been quite sick with upper respiratory symptoms. While awaiting surgery Baby s eye which was significantly infected ruptured causing permanent blindness and what would be chronic infection. The medical staff at the clinic made an emergency decision to enucleate (completely remove) her bad eye. She has now begun the healing process and she looks great. She has had follow up care at the Animal Eye Center - VCA in Loveland and has been given clearance for adoption. As you can imagine its a process getting used to life only seeing from one eye. Her depth perception is affected but she is learning quickly to navigate through her environment. She enjoys the company of other cats but energetic dogs or children are startling to her at this point. Baby is looking for an understanding new family that can help her further adjust to life after the loss of her eye. She should have no long term complications due to this and has a long healthy life ahead. Please submit an application or inquire below in the comments if you wish to be considered for adopting her. She really doesn t have special needs although due to her eye extra care needs to be taken that she never gets outside and is further assisted in her socialization.
