We first met him at a rural shelter where he was taken in by animal control as a very sick puppy battling parvo. He s a survivor Jasper was rescued from the shelter this summer by a DC family and they ve gotten him ready to find his forever home. Jasper has been neutered microchipped and fully vaccinated. He s housebroken and loves crate time with his peanut butter Kong. At bedtime he knows go to your home means it s time to go to bed and he sleeps through the night without a fuss. His favorite game is playing fetch in the back yard - he can fit two toys in his mouth at once and sometimes thinks he can fit a bone in there too. Go get it will send him off on a hunt to find a toy to play with you. His current family has worked with Jasper on basic commands and he s currently attending a basic obedience class. He knows sit and touch really well especially if you have his favorite training treat - string cheese. On walks Jasper likes to charge off on his own path but since getting a Gentle Leader harness he s been doing much better. Jasper has no food aggression - if he gets a hold of something he shouldn t he lets his owners take it from him without fussing and does fine with the food bowl and taking treats gently as well. He just generally wants to be the center of everything that is going on around him. Jasper would do best in a home with a fenced yard so he can have room to play off leash with you. He needs an experienced dog owner who can provide a lot of structure and daily interaction. Jasper loves the other dogs he has met and has interacted well with dogs at private play dates. He s ready to join your home and comes set with his crate toys chews training cheese (even string cheese if we have any left ) and his leash and harnesses.
