Layla - Female PugBeagle Mix

Layla and her buddy Jax came to us together when their guardian could not be home enough to give them the life they so richly deserve. Layla appears to be a mix of Beagle and Pug popularly called a Puggle. Layla is very friendly although following her nose may be even more important to her than making new friends. She is also keen on toys especially the small size squeaky tennis ball. What a hoot Layla is tolerant and loving although she should be walked on leash only by adults because she follows her nose and could easily get lost. She does have the Beagle voice as well though somewhat lessened by her Pug side and will not be a good neighbor for apartment life or other close quarters. She seems quieter with Jax around than when she s alone.Jax and Layla have been enjoying the good life in overnight foster care where they play rough and tumble and get a huge kick out of it. They wear each other out and then go nighty night. Sounds perfect. Jax will play with a ball but at the end of the day he s much happier with his gal Layla.Layla will probably be okay with younger kids but Jax is more sensitive dog savvy children over fourteen or so will make the best kid companions for this pair.Layla is cool with other dogs but loses interest after a while. She s just happier with her pal Jax. She bolsters his confidence as any good friend will and Jax helps her remember to listen to the people in the room as he is less distracted by his nose. Having a pair of dogs is such a bonus Layla is the more confident dog of this duo. While they are transitioning into a new life with you it would be helpful if someone is home most of the time to help them orient. They might have an aversion to crates after being crated so much but it would still be great for Jax to have an open crate of his own (door missing) so he has a go-to safe place. And Layla does prefer not to be alone. Perhaps they can be limited to one safe room with nothing for them to get into. Be sure they are well exercised before leaving them alone start with very short times away.Don t be shy with long walks both dogs can stand to lose a few pounds. Watch their food intake to help with this as well. And it s always a good idea to have activities for both dogs to do with you separately as well as together.Meet Layla and Jax and you ll see why we re so fond of them. You couldn t ask for a nicer pair. And no adolescent hijinks to live through Just a nice mellow pair of dogs for a wonderful life Primary Color Fawn Secondary Color White Weight 23 Age 9yrs 11mths 4wks... More Info
