Sampson 2 - Male Labrador Retriever

SAMPSON is an 8 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 74 pounds.Sampson loves people he is very easy going and figures everyone is his friend. He thinks people are there to give him attention and love. He is easy going and has no problems meeting new people and dogs since he came back into Lab Rescue He loves to swim and going to the beach is a big favorite. Good with other dogs. Okay with cats lived with an elderly cat for the past three years. Knows sit and lay down. He waits for his owner to give the command to eat or exit a door. Had free run of the house. Sampson comes from the suburbs and has had limited exposure to big cities. Placement is limited to single family stand-alone homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. Sampson has lived with a child so he is approved for kids ages 8 . From his owner I ve shared a lot of ups and downs the last eight years with Sampson and we have been through multiple living situations. He has persevered through the changes and has lived with a number of other dogs from different breeds and a wide range of ages. Over the last two and half years he lost three of his companion dogs two from old age and one from illness. We have lost his partner in crime last month a 15-year-old black lab that he grew up beside. He has been able to make new companions with two other rescue dogs that come to stay with him part time during the week while their owners are at work. Giving him up has been hard and I wish I was able to more easily change my living location in order to keep him but knowing that Lab Rescue will get him a good home has made it bearable. Sampson has always been a free spirit he likes to roam when given the chance he would never stray far from the house. He is super gentle when receiving a treat He has been known to raid the counter when left with something too irresistible or for too long. He has good house manners and never destroys anything. Home security is not an issue when Sampson is present. He has impeccable hearing and a rather intimidating bark when needed. That being said he will also quickly relax when instructed to. He is nervous on lead when confronted with pushy dogs his size he has no problems meeting them off lead. He is tolerant of smaller yappy dogs and ignores them. He loves to walk between your legs to greet you Will shy away from a hose when being rinsed off but loves a dry towel after a bath more than anything. When he is off lead he normally stays w he usually stays within a comfortable recall distance. Watch him at -XX -.--X.- watch v uKBf6pMnjp4 . Sampson story. Sampson was adopted from Lab Rescue as a puppy and has made several moves with his owner and has easily settled into the new neighborhood. Sampson loves to lay out in the front yard and watch the world go by. Recently a new family moved into his neighborhood and on 3 occasions one of their boys has ridden his bicycle into him. Since then he has started chasing bicycles and the mother of the boy that hit him complains to the local Animal Control who came out and cautioned us and also his owner. Another neighbor showed animal control a video of the boy riding into Sampson on his bike they warned the parents they could be taken to court for Animal Cruelty. Bottom line is Sampson s owner decided to give him back to Lab Rescue rather than chance him being labeled as a dangerous dog for chasing bicycles even though it was provoked This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP.
