Thank you If you are looking for a senior buddy who is happy to just sit next to you and keep you company then look no further because you won t find another dog more cuddly than Goldie. He loves nothing better than snuggling up on the couch with you as you are reading a good book watching TV or really doing just about anything as long as it means he gets to hang out with his people and get ear rubs. He is very calm mellow and even tempered. Goldie came into the rescue because his owner had health issues. Goldie is a little overweight and is on low calorie food to help him lose a few pounds. He does okay on short walks but seems to have some weakness in his hind legs that prevents him from walking very long or walking up stairs. This will probably improve as he loses weight but it would still be best if his adopters did not have a lot of stairs for him to use and are able to carry him up the stairs. Every day his foster mom puts him in a dog stroller so he can enjoy riding with her while she takes a long walk and then taking short breaks so he can also walk too. He is reliably house trained if he is kept on a routine schedule. He does well with older children and other pets in the house but doesn t really want to play at all so he may not appreciate younger children or rambunctious dogs. Goldie has some allergies and is on a prescription allergy medication to control this as well as a weekly bath with a medicated shampoo. Despite being 13 years old Goldie is in good overall health and has good teeth so he should have many happy years left to give all the cuddles you could possibly want.Goldie is neutered current on vaccinations is microchipped and on heart and flea tick preventative. His adoption fee is 50.00 plus 3.64 for a total of 53.64. His foster mom would like his adopters to live within 45 miles of the Twin Cities and also encourage them to attend the Shih Tzu rescue reunion held in September every year.To meet Goldie please complete an adoption application.
