SUMMARY OF POSITIONProvides shop floor support for manufacturing methods and processes in machining metal finishing and assembly operations for assigned product lines. Maintains Manufacturing Process planning documentation and insures the accuracy of labor standards. Initiates improvements in current manufacturing methods and processes to improve part quality schedule performance and to reduce manufacturing costs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides on-going shop floor support for all machining metal finishing and assembly methods for assigned product lines. Creates conceptual designs for fixtures gages and special cutting tools. Conducts tool design reviews with the Tooling Team personnel purchasing personnel and outside tool suppliers. Initiates drawing changes with the product design engineer to improve manufacturing quality to reduce costs. Provides technical support to purchasing personnel and suppliers by interpreting product drawings initiating the development of manufacturing drawings and resolving technical production problems. Responsible for the investigation of CRF s (Change Request Forms) received in the Manufacturing Engineering department their rejection or approval development and implementation of any process changes and proper documentation of any such changes. Working with the CNC Programmer maintains manufacturing setup sheets for all machining assembly and finishing operations. Makes appropriate changes in manufacturing methods processes and Manufacturing Process Planning documentation when dictated by engineering drawing changes. Documents all changes through the Manufacturing Engineering change control system. Resolves technical production problems on assigned product lines in machining metal finishing and assembly operations working with shop employees and quality personnel. Works with the Quality Engineer on technical manufacturing reviews of suppliers to support purchasing personnel certifying suppliers. Maintains all manufacturing process planning documentation for assigned product lines. This includes item master item warehouse bills of material routings and maintenance of labor standards. Initiates improvements in current manufacturing methods and processes to improve part quality schedule performance and to reduce manufacturing costs. Recommends plant equipment acquisitions. Trains shop employees on improvements to manufacturing methods products and new production equipment. Performs product nonconformance reviews disposition with quality department. Performs other duties as needed such as print checking fixture design etc. Perform other duties as required or directed by the Department Supervisor. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor s degree in manufacturing engineering or related field Two years of relevant engineer experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceSKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED Good oral and written communication skills. Works well under pressure must be organized and able to attain results on several projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and problem solving skills Results-oriented and self-starter Minimum two years of experience In creating BOMs and routings for complex assemblies Demonstrated project management experience Strong cross function coordinator PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Corrected vision of 20 20 preferred. Able to work in a fast-paced quality oriented environment. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined for the position. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Must submit to and pass background and substance abuse tests. Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States through eVerify.
