A VERY SPECIAL CASE...

This is an ad that is EXTRA HELP in finding a loving and understanding home for an AWESOME and DESERVING dog.A little history about him Friday 5 17 we went to HAS and fostered this sweet guy...but we were only able to keep him about 24 hours.In about 3-4 hours we discovered the hard way that was raised by a P.O.S. former owner of 5 years to attack small animals and cats.He attacked one of our three 9 year old cats that afternoon...and our cat died early Sunday morning.I was 95% on my way to work of a 20 mile trip when he started attacking the cat while I was gone.I made the immediate round trip and my wife said the attack lasted about 20 minutes because she wasn t physically able to seperate them for that long.She eventually got him in the extra bedroom where he stayed until after we returned from the Vet about 3 hours later.When I checked in on him I was surprised to find that he didn t mess up a thing in that room.Nothing.Just sat there with a pitiful look and didn t move much the whole time.Shortly after that we realized he had the training to go after the small animals from his previous owner.He was found lost by Huntsville Animal Control on 5 14 or 5 15 We picked him up to foster on 5 17 and he stayed overnight with us.We have easily picked up upon that after YEARS of abuse neglect and starvation... he is a VERY special boy. (he s 5 years old now)He just needs a chance with someone with no small animals.Rocky has a TON OF POTENTIAL and is smart.He has obviously been massively mis-treated in life and DESERVES better.But... we realize that there was NO WAY anyone could have known that he didn t (doesn t) like cats.We hold NO ILL WILL towards Rocky.It was NOT his fault .On Monday 5 20 we went back to Animal Control to visit him.I wanted to let Rocky know that I am NOT angry with him over him killing our cat named Blanche that died yesterday morning 5 19.I figured I owed it to him... and most of all to Blanche...to let them both know that I love them both.We ve had all 3 of our cats for 9 years now (inside the whole time).Rescued them when they were flea and worm covered as 1 pound little kittens.They are VERY tough and loving... and right now the other 2 are in a pretty good fear at the moment.When I checked on him for several minutes a few things came to mind very clearly 1. He is VERY loving and attachable.He likes to sit next to us and or on us already (y)2. He gets along well with our Staffy Harley.3. Sadly.... he HATES CATS and small animals -(4. One can tell that because of his many years of neglect abuse and starvation...his previous owner instilled the attitude of not liking small animals in to him.Animal Control ASSURED us that they will NOT put him down.It is our passion to help find him a home that will love him...after all those years of abuse...
