We find there are times we will let go of those who should be in our lives because we re afraid of being vulnerable again. We re afraid of the heartbreak of the past being our future. We run away from the potential pain someone could cause because everything we ve experienced in the past has ended in loss and pain. We are just afraid of opening our heart again because we re too familiar with it being destroyed and disregarded. The saddest thing is because of the past we discount and avoid the future we could have. We don t take chances anymore with our heart. It s easier to close off the possibility. It s easier to ignore the pull and to be an island unto ourselves. If we are the only person we deal with then there s no opportunity for someone else to harm us. Truth is pain heartache betrayal distrust and hate could all arise but so could trust understanding companionship love and respect. I m not just talking about romantic relationships only. All relationships are important. Friendships are important. Imagine if the next person you met was your soulmate but not the romanticized idea of a soulmate. I believe a soulmate could be your best friend. Someone you ve waited your whole life for. That someone who understands who you are and accepts you as you are. That someone who laughs and understands your jokes and realizes that the jokes are your defense mechanisms at times. Jokes are what you turn to when you re masking your emotions or feelings. Someone who checks on you out of genuine concern because they sense you are not ok. Someone who holds you and love is communicated in their embrace. This is love at fundamental levels. This is love that blankets you in safety. Selfless love. Relationships are not always traditional and they shouldn t be put in a box for a one size fits all approach. I guess I said all this to say I know you should be in my life and when you come I m going to take another chance. I m going to move beyond my fear of potential pain exposure heartache rejection and loss. So I hope I recognize you because I know you are out there. I believe we all have a soulmate in this world and simply put someone who accepts us just the way we are. Our soulmate has an understanding and a knowing. They will comfort our heart just with their presence. I m not talking about someone who completes your sentences I m talking about the person who helps you build the thought in the first place. Their influence and impact changing your life for the better. Somebody who has you like no other. Someone who will know you like no one else will in this world. Don t give up and be open to taking another chance. We are still alive and despite what we ve gone through true love heals. This is not about romantic love this is about the love of sharing a life and experiences with the person who needs no explanation or introduction. Be open and allow your wall to fall. One day I will find a true soulmate someone who have that special understanding and knowing how to comfort my heart just with their presence speech and inner beauty.
