The ChallengeWe are looking for an Airport project manager to join our Aviation Development Team and help manage Western NC airport projects. We are looking for a skilled airport project manager with a professional collegial attitude and strong background in project management contracts bid process SAP contract functions and customer service to join the NCDOT Division of Aviation. This team manages NC and federal grant programs and provides technical assistance for infrastructure development for all public-use airports. In this role you will Participate in the Development team s administration and supervision of State Aid to Airports Program and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Block Grant Program for North Carolina. Work with public airports and provide support with airport planning design construction and maintenance. Conduct periodic statewide reviews to determine airport system improvements status. Evaluate the need for additional projects or modified program emphasis. Evaluate designs and proposals from private engineering firms and governmental agencies to determine the most economical solution for airports. Heavily participate in the FAA Block Grant Program contract process. Support Aviation division outreach initiatives. Participate in and contribute to NCDOT s strategic planning tracking and reporting activities focused on advancing our vision and mission. Present to stakeholder groups on NCDOT activities and impacts. Analyze data information to create presentations and reports. What You BringExperience planning developing scheduling tracking and completing projects independently or with limited supervision. Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems. You work your best completing assignments in a team environment. Experience resolving customer-service problems involving complicated engineering concepts to various stakeholders. Computer skills in Microsoft Office SAP CADD Microsoft Project Scheduler and GIS. A broad working knowledge of aviation planning and engineering principles and the ability to use them in practice. Areas of interest include aviation earthmoving drainage paving electrical systems navigational aids environmental and record keeping for projects. Considerable knowledge in the planning design and administration of engineering projects. Knowledge of operations and maintenance of airport facilities. Ability to provide engineering and technical assistance to local governments on airport and aviation needs. Excellent communication skills that include public speaking technical writing and conflict resolution. A strong background in project management contracts bid process SAP contract functions and customer service. Management PrefersCandidates trained by FAA educational institutions on airport planning design and administration. Aviation background such as a pilot s certificate. NoteMay require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
