The ChallengeWe are looking for a machinist to join our Maintenance Operations and Fleet Management team. Your work will be performed on the journeyman level in accordance with standard machine shop practices. General assignments are received from a foreman but you will also work with considerable independence in selecting methods procedures and materials and be guided by plans and specifications or actual parts to be duplicated. Your work will be reviewed upon completion for serviceability and conformance to specifications through trial runs or actual use. In this role you will Operate machine tools to fabricate repair metal parts to precise dimensions. Be an original manufacturer repair existing parts and or modify existing parts and equipment. Ensure a safe work environment. Apply basic Occupational and Safety Health Administration guidelines and the International Standards Organization guidelines as accepted by proper engineering techniques. Perform various welding techniques including acetylene and electric welding to exacting standards to assure manufactured product is in accordance with industry and safety standards. What You BringKnowledge of several machining applications. Experience with sheet metal fabrication operations. Experience knowledge and know-how to manufacture all types of sheet metal parts. Ability to read scaled and non-scaled blueprints to develop acceptable and useable products. Use of exact measurement tools and familiarity with coefficients of metallurgy. Knowledge and use of measuring instruments. Class C Driver s License. Working knowledge of the principles and operation of various machine tools and equipment. Working knowledge of the properties of common metals and alloys. Working knowledge of precise measuring scales and the uses of measuring instruments such as vernier inside and outside calipers and micrometers. Basic knowledge of sheet metal operation and fabrication. Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints technical diagrams and sketches of complex equipment. Education and ExperienceHigh School GED diploma and 1 year of relevant experience operating a variety of machine shop equipment in the production of metal parts or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
