The full-time Manager of Events and Group Experience will lead a team of 4 people while overseeing and handling all tasks related to special events and reservations for McWane Science Center a non-profit organization housing four floors of hands-on science exhibits along with a state-of-the-art IMAX Dome Theater. Accountabilities and Major DutiesDirectly supervise staff in Reservations and Events and Group Experience. This includes schedules workflow coaching and communicating departmental vision. This will also include coordinating onboarding and training of staff. Responsible for departmental policies and procedures which includes updating current documents on OneNote and Share Point. Encourage and coordinate collaboration with the Director of Visitor Experience to create implement and measure success for all McWane Science Center group experience programs including but not limited to Overnight Adventures field trips private events and ticketed public events. This includes but is not limited to communication with teachers prior to arrival greeting buses developing schedules for visits and ensuring food delivery. Provide and manage all aspects of exemplary customer service by demonstrating desired response and by assisting team in learning to maintain a focus on positive solutions with a great attitude. Oversee and manage cross departmental communication to ensure outstanding guest experience with a team approach. Responsible for the BEO (Banquet Event Orders) and ensuring the facilitation of regular BEO meetings. Review and create all collateral used by staff related to visitor and group interaction including but not limited to email scripts letters maps signs etc. Responsible for a plan for effective communication to schools and community groups. Collaborate with marketing department regarding the annual McWane Resource Guide and its distribution. Oversee and manage all tasks related to special events both internal and private. Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of information entered into Siriusware Point of Sale system. This includes arrangement of training as needed for staff. Provide backup support to other Visitor Experience team members as required. Minimum QualificationsMinimum four-year degree or commensurate experience. Previous personnel management experience required. Proven record of customer service-related management experience. Proven administrative and financial ability including experience in budget preparation Flexible availability to include nights weekends and holidays. Available to work a minimum of three (3) weekends per month. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Organized and efficient work habits. Willing to obtain knowledge of museum industry and to become familiar with museum exhibits and programs. Ability to accurately reconcile a cash drawer and make cash deposits. Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite. Minimum Physical QualificationsAbility to sit and or stand for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Perform work using a computer for extended periods of time. Visual and hearing acuity.
