Remote Proofreader needs to be bilingual Spanish EnglishRemote Proofreader requires Role is part time 10-20 hours Proofread editing editorial skills and more into Mechanical Bilingual in Spanish required preferably in translation bilingual education or Spanish language arts) Experience in (educational) publishing in Spanish and English Freelance capability to work at least 10 hours week Excellent knowledge of the English language including spelling grammar punctuation and nuance. Strong attention to detail. Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style 16th edition (flexible can train if needed) or other commonly used style manuals such as APA MLA or AMA. Neat handwriting. Ability to follow detailed instructions and ask relevant questions. Ability to move easily between projects with different guidelines and needs. Knowledge of standard proofreading marks is desirable. Bachelor s degree in English Communications or a commensurate amount of proofreading or editorial experience (4 years). Training in proofreading a plus. Remote Proofreader duties Proofread instructional marketing and research materials (can include cold read of layout or manuscript checking copy against manuscript confirming corrections reviewing printer proofs reviewing F& Gs samples and proofreading on-screen) . Perform content QA of digital components such as online assessments digital teaching systems audio and programs adapted for use on tablets. Enter text corrections and formatting into Adobe InCopy proprietary digital editing tools Microsoft Office and other software. Provide editorial support such as checking content across documents as requested .
