The ChallengeWe re looking for an Traffic Survey Engineering Technician to join our Kinston Resident Engineer s office. In this role you willSupport senior technicians and engineers in construction inspections material samplings and testing construction traffic controls and surveying. Perform standardized tests record data and take measurements calculations of pay quantities to ensure contractor compliance with contract plans specifications and adequate project documentation. What You BringExperience working in a team environment to complete assignments. Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports. Knowledge of standards specifications and plan reading experience. Computer skills using laptops iPad and software applications. Knowledge and understanding of general concepts practices and theories used in construction construction inspection and or construction surveying. Excellent communication skills to work with co-workers contractors and the public. Knowledge ability to use math skills such as basic algebra geometry and trigonometry. Good eyesight to use testing equipment read plan details make accurate field measurements and inspect roadway and structure components. Good skills in decision making and judgement. Operate state-owned vehicle. Safety toe shoes are needed for this position. Ability to safely perform manual tasks involving the use of bush axes sledgehammers and other tools. Strength to lift 50 pounds. NotesYou may be exposed to hazards including construction equipment high traffic volumes and heights over water or traffic. You will be working outside in a wide range of temperature and weather conditions. Safety toe shoes are required. You may be required to work nights weekends holidays and extended hours as necessary. You will need to obtain and maintain certifications required to perform material sampling and testing. Education & ExperienceAssociate s degree in Civil Engineering Technology Survey Technology or a related discipline or An equivalent combination of training and experience.
