The ChallengeWe are looking for 2 experienced transportation workers to join our Maintenance Operations and Fleet Management team. In this role you will Load unload heavy equipment received and shipped from our Equipment Depot in all weather conditions using a high-capacity forklift telehandler crane and other lifting equipment. Be responsible for the security and good condition of loads being moved. Maintain thorough record keeping. Plan delivery routes. Operate a road tractor with lowboy trailer flatbed trailer or box trailer to move heavy equipment and parts to and from locations within outside the State. Stand for long periods of time work outside in varying weather conditions and climb around and on equipment. Assist our Central Fleet Manager with inspections cleaning minor repairs and maintaining equipment assigned to our Central Rental Fleet. What You BringWorking knowledge of the proper methods of loading vehicles to secure proper and even load distribution. Experience operating a tractor-trailer combination. Mechanic skills to service and provide minor maintenance to vehicles and auxiliary equipment. Ability to operate a high capacity all terrain forklift. Organizational experience to prepare maintain records and reports of transportation operations. Skilled and safe operation experience using a high-capacity forklift to load unload oversized heavy equipment. Skilled and safe experience using a road tractor and lowboy trailer to transport heavy equipment oversized loads on lengthy trips across North Carolina. Strength to lift up to 50 pounds. Thorough knowledge and skills in the safe equipment operation. Discipline to follow precise directions. Ability to anticipate and avoid safety hazards for self co-workers and traveling public. Ability to train lower-level workers on safe equipment operation. NoteThe position requires a Commercial Driver s License (CDL). This may be obtained through on-the-job training with a 60 day grace period to earn a CDL Permit and 90 days to obtain a License.
