The ChallengeWe re looking for an Accountant to join our Financial Management team in our Raleigh headquarters. In this role you willManage Payroll and Personnel data after our time entry process for 9 000 NCDOT employees across the State. Resolve payroll longevity time entry and quota balance problems including consulting with our Best Shared Services Staff IT staff Human Resources Staff Retirement System Agency field staff and other employees. Monitor and facilitate Time Payroll and Personnel documents in dual SAP systems (NCDOT and BEACON). Serve as the point of contact for all employee s payroll questions and be the liaison with BEACON for HR Payroll information. Create action reports and process revise retirement applications and temporary higher pay calculations. Ensure proper posting of payroll and payroll-related payments to our General Ledger accounts. Reconcile OSC pay period report for bi-weekly payroll finalization. Resolves errors reported by BEST daily. What You BringStrong math Microsoft Excel and SAP system experience solving complex issues in human resources payroll and time entry. Experience with general accounting principles processes and procedures. Experience reviewing work of others and implementing financial policies and procedures. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Skills creating reports using accounting software. Experience troubleshooting and resolving accounting-related issues with effective verbal and written communication. Education & ExperienceBachelors degree in business administration finance public administration or a related discipline and 18 semester hours of accounting or An equivalent combination of training and experience.
