Job Title Local Delivery Driver Reports to General ManagerJob Summary Local Delivery Drivers are responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of our products.Essential Functions Verifies load against shipping papers. Report in to General Manager before departing the plant with the first shipment of the day either in person or via phone Report to the General Manager at the end of shift in person or by phone if the General Manager is out of the office Review delivery instructions prior to departing MetalMax facility Must check off all deliveries with customers by making sure to have them sign off on the delivery as complete and correct Must contact the General Manager immediately if there is a discrepancy or issue while at the customer s facility before departing that location Ensures that all products listed on the loading list is loaded in the proper sequence to allow ease of delivery proper weight distribution and safe transportation Maintains a truck log in according to state and federal regulations. Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires lights brakes gas oil and water Positions blocks and tie straps around items to secure cargo during transit Reload truck for the next day s shipments as time allows Ability to communicate with customer s on their estimated time of delivery. Knowledge Skills & Abilities A safe driving record is required for this position Ability to problem solve by following the proper procedures and chain of command to resolve issues while providing professional and courteous customer service Knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving hours of service inspection and maintenance Ability to utilize time management and teamwork to determine work schedule Ability to lift 80 pounds Education High School Diploma or GED.Other Duties This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
