New Higher Salary 59 752 - 104 566 The Challenge We are hiring an experienced Engineer to join our Photogrammetry team that acquires aerial imagery and generates geospatial information products used for transportation planning design and construction. This team also partners with government agencies for statewide orthophotography and aerial LiDAR elevation data programs serving as NCDOT s subject matter experts for aerial surveying. In this role you will Provide unit wide support for all Engineers Engineering Technicians and Administrative staff. Be responsible for the analysis of computer-related issues within the unit and coordination with the NC Department of Information Technology staff. Be responsible for all tasks associated with the development of flight and survey control plans for photogrammetric mapping using specialized software associated with the digital sensor. Act as one of Photogrammetry unit s Geospatial Information Coordinators. Research and evaluate the impacts of new software and hardware to current in-house developed applications. Monitor and analyze the unit s staff use of in-house developed processes and applications. Ensure proper adherence to required procedures and conduct refresher remedial training. Maintain our unit s web page and periodically examine for accuracy and adherence to NCDOT standards. Initialize new equipment and program requests when notified by senior unit staff. Communicate verbally and in writing with senior management supervisory engineers junior engineers technicians and private engineering firm staff. Advise senior management during bi-annual asset inventory and in the handling of surplus equipment. Perform work independently for moderately complex photogrammetric mapping projects and at the direction of supervisory engineers for more complex geomatics engineering assignments. What You BringKnowledge understanding of the concepts practices and theories of professional transportation and geomatics engineering used in photogrammetry surveying and GIS relating to highway location design and construction. Experience using and operating photogrammetry equipment and software and that related to engineering surveys and or GIS. Experience executing moderately-complex photogrammetric mapping projects for completeness and compliance with NCDOT guidelines and standards. Experience verbally and in writing communicating complex technical information clearly effectively and concisely to senior and junior geomatics professionals. Experience maintaining effective working relationships with employees and using verbal and nonverbal skills to express complex technical and or program concepts and related facts in a clear concise organized and persuasive manner. NoteWe may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
