Worship Leader Job Description for Brownstown Presbyterian Church The people of Brownstown Presbyterian Church are seeking a Christ-centered worship leader to work closely with our volunteer music ministry team and to plan and lead a mix of contemporary and traditional Christian music as an integral part of Sunday morning worship. Our service includes communion once a month. We tend to follow the lectionary. Overview We are looking for a worship leader Who loves Jesus Christ Who loves the local church and is committed to see it grow Who can lead the church into the presence of God through worship Who is passionate about seeing people come to know Jesus Who loves worshiping and all its aspects Who can sing and play an instrument (Guitar or piano) Who can grow the worship team and train others to lead Who has worship leading experience Accountability The Worship Leader is accountable to the Session and must also work in close partnership with the Spiritual Growth Committee which is the standing worship committee and the pastor. Responsibilities The primary responsibilities are to Play and direct music for worship service utilizing a musical instrument such organ piano guitar etc. Incorporate a wide variety of music including traditional hymns contemporary Christian music choral instrumental music videos and more enough to provide a rich banquet for those who have come to the feast. Work with volunteer musicians to provide a variety of creative musical expressions to enhance worship. Schedule and lead practices and provide lead sheets charts for the music ministry team to prepare for Sunday other services. Encourage the music ministry team through prayer fellowship and the introduction of new music pieces insights etc. Have an awareness of the general lectionary (available online and in the church calendar) and assist in the coordination of musical selections with scripture and other elements of service. Work with office staff and technical team to create weekly PowerPoint presentation Attend a monthly Worship Planning Team meeting Secure substitutes or organists as needed Represent the church by working with other churches on ecumenical events. Salary and Working Environment This position is a part time 6-8 hour per week position with an annual rate of pay at 5 200.00. The worship leader will need to be available each Sunday and for a midweek rehearsal and other special services. Though there is some room for negotiation two weeks of vacation including two Sundays off are offered. Time off would need to be scheduled.
