SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Machine Operator EDM sets up operates and maintains CNC Wire and Sinker EDM equipment with minimal to no supervision.The Machine Operator EDM reports to the Production Supervisor Manufacturing Operations Leadership in Orchid Bridgeport.KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESOperate machinery as required Verify part quantity to the job traveler Make machine adjustments as required to maintain print specifications Perform operator maintenance on machines as required Make offsets and adjustments as needed May create or adjust programs to meet customer prints or specifications Perform inspection of parts as needed using hand gages and comparator Assist and train others as needed Perform weekly housekeeping per 6S schedule Operate multiple machines at one time Lead quality and compliance by utilizing One Orchid global processes and complying with all Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation requirements and establishing supporting plan(s) to meet exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Quality that support Safety Compliance Six Sigma Quality On-Time Delivery (OTD) and financial objectives. Perform other duties as required or directed by the Department Supervisor or Lead EXPERIENCEPrevious EDM experience preferred KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIESBasic machining knowledge preferred Must be able to read blueprints & interpret GD& T Ability to use hand measuring tools ( ex. Micrometer calipers etc.) Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve problems including identifying strengths weaknesses locating alternative solutions and conclusions and approaches to problems and making high-quality timely decisions Must be able to operate the machine at the level required for the area. To be certified to a certain level all skills indicated within that level must be trained then evaluated by an authorized evaluator and certified complete unless otherwise noted.
