SUMMARY OF POSITION The Machinist I CNC is responsible to set up and operate laser etch machine to etch metal parts in accordance with blueprint specifications and work instructions. The Machinist I Laser Etch reports to the Production Supervisor.KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESReads and interprets blueprints and work instruction sheets to determine appropriate operations to be performed. Sets up laser etch machine in accordance with the print specifications and work instructions to process parts. Ensures a set-up sheet is available for the part being set up or completes one. Operates laser etch machine and runs production in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Uses inspection gauges such as calipers micrometers squares and height gauges to perform quality checks on parts as outlined by AQL and work instructions. Corrects dimensional problems and approves set-ups by other operators. Maintains and ensures accurate counts on completed parts and scrapped parts. Completes production paperwork and makes required entries into company database. Maintains tools measuring instruments and equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Reports all equipment problems r malfunctions to supervisor manager immediately. Maintains clean orderly and safe work areas at all times. Performs set-up for prototype parts and forms according to blueprints and guidelines. Performs other related duties and tasks as required. Lead quality and compliance by complying with all Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation requirements and establishing supporting plan(s) to meet exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Quality that support Safety Compliance Six Sigma Quality On-Time Delivery (OTD) and financial objectives. EXPERIENCEExperience working with calipers and micrometers. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to read and interpret blueprints Basic understanding of measuring tools such as calipers micrometers and profilometers. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in an FDA-regulated industry is a plus. Must be able to work in a fast-paced organized fashion to meet customer deadlines. Must be able to read and understand information and ideas presented in written form including work instructions Must possess good hand eye coordination Computer literacy is preferred Basic math skills are required Close visual inspection is required. Must have excellent vision corrected or un-corrected to 20 40 Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve problems including identifying strengths weaknesses locating alternative solutions and conclusions and approaches to problems and making high-quality timely decisions EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONHigh school diploma or equivalent PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWork is performed in a generally temperature-controlled and comfortable relatively clean manufacturing environment where exposure to a number of elements occurs (ex. temperature noise smells airborne particles dirt dust etc.) Requires stooping standing kneeling up to 20 pounds of force to move and or lift objects. Requires frequent and repetitive bending stretching stooping scooping and circular arm and hand motions. Requires manual dexterity using hands to finger to handle or feel two-thirds or more of the time. Requires reaching with hands and arms two-thirds or more of the time. Close or highly concentrated visual work and the ability to see details at close range.
