Heavy Duty Tractor Trailer Mechanic

To repair and inspect company equipment in a safe timely cost effective and practical manner. The mechanic securing this position will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers under minimal supervision. Repairs will include Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairs air brake repairs driveline steering & suspension electrical troubleshooting AC and other duties as assigned.Duties Understand troubleshooting diesel engine system with ECM diagnostic programs and other troubleshooting techniques Perform complete diagnosis of any mechanical electrical or other failure of a motor truck or its components Effectively and efficiently perform PM inspections and services Determine and perform work as outlined on repair order Road test repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications Communicate with management to get the needed parts Document all repairs in the system You will maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all assigned trailer equipment. Determine trailer condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests Perform system repairs to include engines transmission air and hydraulic systems tires drivetrain steering and suspension electrical. Perform all preventive maintenance inspections state and federal mandated safety inspections and complete repairs in accordance with DOT requirements. Perform routine maintenance on refrigeration trailers refrigeration systems Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty Skill requirements Minimum 6 months of experience Mechanical related experience in the transportation heavy equipment or automotive industry or equivalent combination of education or experience.
