It is guided by a professional staff and Resident Council which meets monthly to represent the ideas opinions compliments and concerns of all residents.Job DescriptionThe Driver safely transports residents to and from various off-campus (physician s appointments community events etc.) and on-campus (special events or meals) locations using company vehicles and will help anyone in need of assistance when entering or exiting the vehicle or with any baggage. He or she is responsible for the general maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicles reporting any defects or items of concern to the appropriate supervisor. Most importantly and without exception the Driver operates within the legal speed limits and in a safe fashion at all times.The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma or GED a valid and unrestricted Driver s License and a clean driving record a Chauffeur s License or CDL. The Driver must be at least 21 years of age. Previous experience is preferred. In addition he or she must be able to identify common vehicle maintenance needs such as checking fluid levels maintaining tire pressure performing vehicle safety checks (visual inspection of wipers tires etc.) and maintaining the vehicle in a clean condition (interior and exterior). The Driver must be able to push pull move and or lift a minimum of 60 pounds and be physically able to aid wheelchair-bound residents when loading and unloading the lift bus.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for safe transport of St. James Place residents to and from physician s appointments community functions held off- site in accordance with the St. James Place Transportation Policy & ScheduleComplies with and enforces all safety policies and proceduresObeys posted speed limits at all times and all other rules of the roadCompletes any reports or logsMaintains cleanliness of vehicles and may perform routine maintenance tasksMay provide on-campus transportation for events & meals when neededCoordinates bank deposits and other courier needs for staff and managementEnsures that the expectations of the residents and visitors are consistently metUses correct judgment in refusing driving services when a situation is considered hazardousKnowledgeable about the SJP campus including doors and buildingsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredAble to bend kneel squat stand and lift heavy objects as neededAbility to identify common vehicle maintenance needsGood human relation and interpersonal skillsAbility to communicate with and understand the English languageAbility to comprehend written and verbal instructions and relay information to others.Ability to manage time and complete assigned tasks according to scheduleA Chauffeur s licence or CDL is required.At least 21 years of age.BenefitsEmployee Assistance Program
