The ChallengeWe are looking for a skilled mechanic to join our Wilkes County Equipment Shop team to do semi-skilled and skilled small engine automotive heavy equipment and mechanic work. In this role you will service diagnose repair and rebuild mechanical systems for a variety of gas- and diesel-powered automotive and heavy equipment. Your work will range from inspection and service to highly complex mechanical systems analysis using advanced diagnostic instruments and software. It may include conducting parts systems failure analysis & calibration and adjustments operation of engine analyzers. You will work indoors and outdoors and move relatively heavy objects. What You BringExperience performing preventative maintenance on light medium or heavy duty trucks and heavy duty equipment. Skills using 2 tools and pieces of shop equipment such as wrenches sockets battery chargers hydraulic jacks loaders fork lifts automotive truck lifts fuel service trucks tire changers tire balancers welders cutting torches diagnostic equipment computers tire jacks tire balance machines pneumatic wrenches diagnostic gauges electronic testers air impact wrenches air compressors air guns or torque wrenches. A complete set of mechanics tools. Experience repairing and replacing tires. Welding and steel fabrication machining experience. Ability to meet all safety regulations. Skills to prepare and maintain paperwork equipment repair inventory and service records. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Skills to move parts and materials to repair and maintain equipment. Able to safely operate equipment for testing purposes. Can demonstrate commitment to a safe working environment by leading by example. Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals. Ability to list up to 50 pounds. NotesYou will need to have a valid state commercial driver s license Class A with N endorsement within 90 days of hire. You will be required to work during adverse weather such as snow and or ice tornadoes hurricanes etc. that can lead to extended daily hours weekends and holidays. We may require EPA certification as a Type I II III or Universal technician. A pre-employment drug test is required. We will do a background check with previous employers for the past 2 years about controlled substances and alcohol. Safety Toe Shoes are required.
