The Challenge We are looking for a Junior Corridor Development Engineer to join our Corridor Development team in our Raleigh headquarters. You will serve as a liaison between NCDOT Metropolitan Planning Organizations and Rural Planning Organizations using your NCDOT funding knowledge along with the needs defined in our long-range transportation plans to formulate strategies for funding projects. In this role you will Work with Planning Organizations to analyze developed long-range transportation plans to determine the projects included in the plans that are most suitable for submission into our SPOT Prioritization system. Conduct engineering studies to fully assess prioritize transportation improvements recommended in our long-range transportation plan. These engineering studies will determine the type of improvements needed scope of work required estimated cost likelihood of securing funding and often include a preliminary analysis of the environmental impacts associated with any proposed projects. Lead complex and moderately difficult studies. Work with Planning Organizations to determine suitable candidate projects to be submitted for consideration for funding from various funding sources outside of the SPOT Prioritization system such as the newly established Mobility Economic Development and Small Construction funds safety funding and bridge funding. What You BringThorough knowledge of civil engineering principles practices related to transportation infrastructure planning design and operation. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel Microstation (CADD) and ArcGIS. Experience explaining ideas and concepts to elected officials citizens and engineers. Communication skills in writing memos reports and e-mails that convey technical information and engineering concepts. Knowledge of project scoping considerations environmental assessment procedures environmental impact analysis and various environmental permitting documents. Management PrefersCandidates with A valid Driver s License. Registration as an NC Professional Engineer. Ability to attain competency in SAP-based financial and project management tools applications. NoteWe may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
