The ChallengeWe are looking for an experienced Project Design Engineer to join our Work Zone Traffic Control team in our Raleigh headquarters. In this role you will Lead a squad of Design Engineers in the development and oversight of Transportation Management Plans for projects and traffic control-related special assignments. Assist the Project Engineer in reviewing consultant submittals and in-house designs from all squad engineers. Scope negotiate schedule and oversee outsourced design projects from private engineering firms. Coordinate with NCDOT design units field divisions consultants and other public agencies. Guide designers in construction process sequencing determine traffic management strategies perform traffic operational and road user cost analysis and ensure as safe a work zone as possible for all users and construction personnel. Answer technical Transportation Engineering Traffic Control questions. Coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure constructability of design safety and mobility of all users and contractor s productivity. Assist field engineers in mitigating impacts during construction. Review and submit Transportation Management Plans in support of NCDOT s Project Delivery initiative. Crunch data for inclusion in project environmental documents engineering designs and contract documents. Provide solutions to problems arising during construction to help ensure project completion schedules are maintained. Perform work zone safety audits. What You BringExperience in Transportation Management Plan Temporary Traffic Control Design. Experience in plan submittal reviews from subordinates consultants. Knowledge of Roadway or Structural Plans used for Highway Construction Projects. Experience with cost estimates for outsourced Transportation Management Plans or other plans used for Highway Construction. Computer skills in Microstation or similar CADD software. Management PrefersCandidates licensed as a Professional Engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. NotesWe may require overnight travel to attend field inspections meetings at construction sites field offices. You may be required to register as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
