The ChallengeWe are looking for a senior engineer to join our Transportation Planning team in our Raleigh NC headquarters. In this roll you will Be the primary point of contact for NC Rural Planning (RPO) and Metropolitan Planning (MPO) Organizations. Develop policies procedures and guidelines that integrate planning process improvement initiatives into MPO RPO operations. Develop and maintain MPO RPO budgets using federal State Planning and Research (SPR) and Planning (PL) funds. What You BringYou have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and also are pursuing or passed the Professional Engineer (PE) exam. Extensive transportation planning experience related to the Metropolitan Rural Planning Organizations. Knowledge of city regional planning concepts and procedures and the organization and operations of NCDOT MPOs RPOs and municipal governments. Knowledge of Federal-Aid highway planning and research programming and MPO RPO planning budgeting procedures. Demonstrated ability to adequately plan schedule coordinate and conduct transportation planning assignments and document and convey the findings in verbally and in technical reports. Demonstrated ability to train provide instruction supervise lower-level engineering and technician staff and provide guidance to staff of other agencies and local governments on transportation systems planning work and related budgeting contracting and invoicing process. Teamwork and leadership skills to establish and maintain great working relationships with MPOs RPOs DOT private and public officials and other employees. Management PrefersKnowledge of SAP and NCDOT s financial systems related to MPO RPO budgeting and invoicing. Candidate registered as an NC Professional Engineer. NotesYou must be able to lift carry materials for meetings have a valid driver s license and be able to drive alone. Most of your work will be performed in NCDOT s Raleigh headquarters with some travel - sometimes overnight. Education and ExperienceBachelor s degree in engineering and 4 years of relevant experience or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
