The ChallengeWe are looking for law enforcement inspector trainees to join our DMV License & Theft teams across North Carolina to enforce DMV and Chapter 20 of the North Carolina General Statutes rules and regulations. In this role you will Enforce DMV rules and regulations adopted by the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles and Chapter 20 of the NC General Statutes. Conduct enforcement and investigation of auto thefts anti-theft including a preliminary and final examination of salvage vehicles dealer and manufacturer s licensing laws safety inspections and emission laws registration laws mechanic lien and abandon vehicle laws odometer and driver license fraud laws. Share information with the public and train inspection mechanics and station managers about inspections laws regulations and procedures. Prepare affidavits secure evidence write search and arrest warrants prepare court summaries to testify on dealer and inspection hearings driver license registration hearings and court proceedings in the State and Federal Courts. Provide first responder assistance at accidents fires hazardous material incidents and natural disasters and assist other Federal state and local law enforcement agencies. Assume responsibilities assigned by Supervisors including special investigations and projects operations. Provide accurate timely information to the public and other law enforcement agencies regarding DMV & License and Theft Bureau responsibilities. What You BringKnowledge of NC General Statutes Chapter 20 Motor Vehicle Law. Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions and prepare clear and comprehensive reports. Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate verbally and in writing details of policies procedures and regulations. Skills in planning scheduling and completing work assignments with direct but limited supervision. Computer skills in Microsoft Office (including Excel and Access) general computer applications and or databases. You are in and can maintain a physical condition that permits certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission for law enforcement officers. Ability to meet NC state statutory standards for law enforcement officers. Education and ExperienceBachelor s degree or An equivalent combination of education and experience. Management PrefersCandidates withBilingual skills (read speak and write in your proficient language). Work experience in law enforcement criminal justice directly related to Bureau responsibilities. NotesYou will be hired at 43 661 and your salary will increase to 48 661 when you complete the trainee program You must complete the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) the DMV Law Enforcement Inspector Basic Academy and the DMV Law Enforcement Inspector Field Training Program within 1 year of hire.
