The ChallengeWe are hiring an entry-level hard-working transportation worker to join our Anson County Maintenance team. In this role you willPerform manual labor and equipment maintenance using hand tools on state-maintained roads and roadside features. Install traffic and erosion control devices. Safely operate hand and power tools. Clear right of ways. Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to pavements shoulder maintenance pipe installation or other drainage tasks. Inventory and track materials used. Inspect contract work. Shovel rake and sweep. Operate heavy equipment. Learn and operate Category A equipment. Transport inmates for work details. What You BringExperience using hand tools such as shovels rakes brooms post hole diggers hammer screwdriver or torches. Experience doing manual labor and ability to repeatedly lift up to 80 pounds. Good listening and communications skills. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Good eyesight. 21 years old. Notes You will be required to work in extreme hot cold weather conditions and walk stand for long periods of time on uneven sloping ground and around high volumes of traffic. This role is subject to emergency call back scheduled night work and out of town travel during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances. You must obtain or have a Class A Commercial Driver s License with N endorsement within 90 days of hire and if you don t have it already a permit within 60 days of hire. You must be eligible to obtain an NCDPS inmate card to transport inmates. A pre-employment drug test is required and we will do a background check with your last 2 years of employers about drug alcohol abuse. Safety toe footwear is required.
